Welcome to the Ferris Wheel  Education Advance After-school Program, where we build the foundation for academic, social, and emotional success in every child in English Language Arts, English Writing, Math, Spanish, and Chinese.


Our advanced after-school academic program operates daily, Monday through Saturday, offering comprehensive courses in key academic subjects for students from Pre-K to 7th grade. Taught by our skilled and expert teachers, the curriculum covers mathematics, English language arts, English composition, Spanish, and Chinese. This dynamic and challenging program provides students with the opportunity to explore their academic potential in a supportive, passionate environment. By fostering a love for learning, our program helps students build a strong academic foundation and achieve excellence in their academic performance.

Program details The full-year after-school program lasts 48 weeks and is divided into 4 sections of 12 weeks each.

    Preschool math is designed to develop confident mathematical thinkers. Through game-based exploration, students grow as critical thinkers and problem solvers. Mathematical concepts are integrated into course experiences, direct instruction, and small group discussions.

    This course is specially designed for Pre-K children to explore early math concepts through fun games and hands-on activities. Children will learn foundational skills such as matching, sorting, and sequencing, helping them develop logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.     In first grade, students begin developing a growth mindset in mathematics while practicing and strengthening their computational skills. They learn to apply flexible and effective problem-solving strategies and deepen their understanding of patterns. Key topics include addition and subtraction within 100 using a variety of strategies, fluency with addition and subtraction within 10, number sense, place value, measurement, time, money, properties of geometric shapes, interpreting data, and understanding equal shares. Beyond building mathematical knowledge, students also develop fluency in problem-solving, preparing them to tackle increasingly complex challenges with confidence.

    In second grade, students build upon their mathematical knowledge and skills, focusing on a deep understanding of concepts, mastery of fundamental skills, and the ability to tackle new and more complex problems. Students engage enthusiastically with mathematics, applying practical strategies and reasoning concretely, quantitatively, and abstractly. They continue to develop confidence and conceptual understanding by expanding their vocabulary and explaining their thinking. Numeracy skills and place value concepts are strengthened through hands-on activities and practice. Key topics include adding and subtracting within 1,000 using models and strategies, place value, working with equal groups, time and money, measuring length, shapes and their attributes, and interpreting graphs and data. In addition to expanding knowledge, students develop fluency in problem-solving, preparing them for continued success in mathematics.

    In third grade, students build confidence, perseverance, and flexibility as they engage with increasingly challenging math problems. They use hands-on activities, real-world scenarios, and visual strategies to deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts. Students expand their math vocabulary and develop the ability to clearly explain their reasoning. Through strengthening their number sense, they apply math skills to collect, interpret, and analyze data, as well as create graphs. Topics include fractions and their equivalents, time, mass, and capacity, all connected to everyday experiences. Instruction is differentiated to meet the unique learning needs of each student, and students are encouraged to check their own work to ensure their solutions are logical and accurate.

    In fourth grade, students explore mathematical concepts such as ordering fractions, angles and geometry, comparing decimals, analyzing data, and identifying algebraic patterns. These topics challenge students to think critically and flexibly while building confidence with numbers. Fourth graders also learn to predict, analyze, and evaluate using increasingly complex numerical patterns. The program emphasizes mathematical inquiry, encouraging students to construct solutions to real-world problems and explain their reasoning in multiple ways. Through this comprehensive and challenging curriculum, students grow into confident mathematicians who can apply their knowledge creatively to solve problems both now and in the future.     In Grade 7 Mathematics, the program is designed to help students build a solid foundation and prepare for future advanced learning. The focus goes beyond mastering skills—it emphasizes developing problem-solving strategies, critical thinking, and the ability to explain the “why” behind answers. Students are encouraged to take risks, learn from mistakes, and grow with confidence and perseverance.

    The core courses in Grade 7 are Algebra 1A and Algebra 1B. Throughout the year, students gain a deeper understanding of Algebra by exploring connections among concepts and applying them to real-world situations. Each unit concludes with a culminating project that allows students to extend their learning, think critically, and collaborate with peers.

    In addition, students will enhance their mathematical vocabulary, use technology as a tool for discovery, and participate in math competitions that challenge and inspire them.

    Designed for young writers passionate about expression and eager to take their skills to the next level, this course integrates the acclaimed Sadlier Grammar for Writing Level 6 curriculum with the Writing Rope framework to develop both language proficiency and writing fluency.

    Under the guidance of Mrs. Munson, students will systematically master the full writing process—planning, drafting, revising, and editing—while applying learned strategies through interactive exercises and editing tools to enhance sentence accuracy and clear article structure.

    The curriculum centers on authentic, student-interest-driven themes and covers multiple genres including narrative, informational, and opinion writing. Supported by high-quality mentor texts, students deepen their understanding of literary techniques and character development.

    Each student will embark on an original writing project, receiving personalized support from initial idea generation through final polishing. Upon course completion, students may opt to publish their work as a professionally printed personal book (optional service, with an approximate six-week publishing timeline), creating a meaningful milestone in their writing journey.
